LivingWise

“LivingWise provides the tools and information to provide families actual long-term savings in their homes. Once residents see the amount of money and energy that can be saved by such small changes, the effects spread exponentially.”
— Herbert Garcia, Sponsor
LivingWise In a Nutshell
Through the LivingWise Program, students learn about conservation in a classroom setting.
The new knowledge is then taken home and shared with their families and friends, reinforcing the lessons learned. LivingWise provides students and their families with the tools needed to audit and retrofit their homes, generating immediate lasting resource savings.
Each turnkey LivingWise program combines on-time implementation, enrollment services, reporting, and the ability to customize program materials with your utility’s name and logo.
Savings That Add Up
Each family participating in the LivingWise Program saves over 9,000 gallons of water on average, 330 kWh of electricity, and 40 therms of gas annually by retrofitting their home with the devices provided as part of the program. Over the life of the devices, each household can save up to 90,000 gallons of water, 3,100 kWh of electricity, and 400 therms of gas.
Have It Your Way
The LivingWise program is often customized to meet the sponsor’s unique conservation goals and budget requirements. Localization, custom kit configurations, public relations and media materials, and cosponsorship opportunities give LivingWise flexibility when it’s needed. Add or remove kit items, brand the items with your name and logo, or implement the program in a custom box.
It’s Good to be Green
If you’re looking to enhance your public profile, the LivingWise program can help you show your green side. School based programs have long been one of the favorite forms of “soft news” for media outlets. Through press releases and media contacts we can make sure your name gets out there and everyone sees how green you are and the differences you are making in the community.
Maximum Results
As part of the LivingWise Program, all activities and resource savings generated by the program are recorded. After completion of the program, results are tabulated and analyzed then returned to you, the sponsor, in the form of a comprehensive Program Summary Report. The Program Summary Report allows you to evaluate the effectiveness of the program and areas where you can further your conservation efforts.
Thank you for your support in 2009 and throughout the past sixteen years. With your help, the Resource Action Programs family of community conservation programs has saved an overwhelming amount of energy and water while increasing residential resource efficiency and community awareness.

How many sixth graders know when and how to change the furnace filter at home? (And why it’s important?) Or how much water is used each time someone flushes the toilet? Or takes a shower? And how much energy is required to heat that water to 120 degrees for a two-minute shower – both before and after the installation of a low-flow showerhead?
