Our Mission
Resource Action Programs emphasize conservation education, designed to introduce families to the concept of natural resources, while teaching them the importance of conservation in their daily lives. Our program’s focus is on energy and water awareness, with the goal of education and an increased feeling of environmental responsibility.
Our personalized education approach is truly unique. By using hands-on learning, accommodation to different learning styles, adaptive lesson plans, and flexible time schedules, there is something to be gained by everyone involved. Our main priorities are teaching the value of clean water and energy, where our resources come from, the impact of everyday actions and the power of individual and collective action.
Corporate Social Responsibility
Our commitment to being a responsible company contributing positively to our communities and environment is extremely important to Resource Action Programs. We work together on a daily basis with employees, suppliers, printers, and others to help create more sustainable business practices, to help educate consumers, to minimize our environmental footprint, to create a great workplace, and to be responsive to our customers’ needs.
We make every effort at Resource Action Programs to ensure we raise awareness, encourage participation, and train employees in environmental matters. We have assessed the environmental impact of our current operation and anticipate the likely impact in the future. We are committed to continuously seeking to improve our environmental performance. Some of the changes we have made include:
- Retrofitting entire facility, including warehouse and offices, with energy efficient lighting
- All thermostats are set to local utility recommendations
- All faucets are equipped with water conserving aerators
- Reduce waste and recycle waste wherever possible
- Purchase recycled materials whenever possible. This includes our printing materials and using FSC (Forest Stewardship Council) or SFI (Sustainable Forestry Initiative) certified papers
- Reduce overall use of raw materials, especially when it comes to packaging
- Encourage clients to use our products and services in an environmentally- sensitive way, and to educate them on the impact of the products
Our values convey the care we give to everything we do and everyone we come in to contact with: our clients, our staff, and the environment. We are dedicated to monitoring our progress and reviewing our environmental performance on a regular basis.
Thank you for your support in 2009 and throughout the past sixteen years. With your help, the Resource Action Programs family of community conservation programs has saved an overwhelming amount of energy and water while increasing residential resource efficiency and community awareness.

How many sixth graders know when and how to change the furnace filter at home? (And why it’s important?) Or how much water is used each time someone flushes the toilet? Or takes a shower? And how much energy is required to heat that water to 120 degrees for a two-minute shower – both before and after the installation of a low-flow showerhead?
