Eden TV, a new UK-based natural history TV channel has recently begun broadcasting and to kick-off their launch, the network built a 16-foot-high sculpture of a mother polar bear and her cub stranded on an iceberg (also meant to increase awareness about the polar bear and their dwindling habitat as a result of climate change). The mamma bear and her cub were sent on their journey down the Thames river 6:30 am on January 26th. Read more…

Mapping out carbon emissions

The Guardian has a interactive info graphic that compares the carbon emissions of countries around the globe and shows how they’ve changed since 1996.

Europe’s carbon emissions only grew by 5% between 1996-2006. In Asia (read: China) the rate was a whopping 64%. Read more…

Top 10 worst green travel destinations

I found this article the other day talking about popular places of travel that are actually the worst places to go if you are trying to be more “earth conscience.” It was a really interesting article that gave me a little history brush-up and made me think about how our travel and tourism isn’t always a good thing.

The top ten worst (must-avoid) green travel destinations are as follows:
Cancun, Mexico; Santorini, Greece; Orlando, Florida; Kuta, Bali; Dubai City, United Arab Emirates; Myanmar; Antarctica; China Beach, Vietnam; Costa Rica’s Over-Developed Coast; and Ngorongoro Crater, Tanzania. Read more…
