In the last year, London’s Metropolitan Police have collected more than 52 tonnes of scrap metal from old keys, knives and guns. All this metal is being used to construct the Olympic Stadium in Stratford for the 2012 Olympic games. You read correctly! Confiscated weapons from the Metropolitan Police Department are being melted down and used to build the stadium. The stadium was designed by Populous, to utilize a minimum number of materials and resources. The goal was to have a lower environmental impact.
