A friend of mine runs the organic division of Mars, Inc. called Seeds of Change. He handed me a DVD to watch last weekend about a company Mars, Inc. has recently started to work with called TerraCycle (www.terracycle.net). This company uses items that would wind up in the landfill (such as juice, candy, cookie, chip wrappers) to manufacture products, like backpacks, tote bags, kites, etc. Read more…

According to Treehugger.com, construction for a high speed rail system is soon to begin in ten corridors across the U.S. If you have ever taken the high speed rail system in Europe, you would realize the great benefits that this rail system can offer the country. It is well documented that mass transit is a more efficient way to travel and has much less of a negative effect on the environment. Read more…

So being in the business of education, I came across this really great site and I wanted to spread the word. It’s a teen environmental awareness site called “Teens Turning Green.” I really love the “Get Educated” section featuring the “Dirty Thirty,” a list of 30 chemical ingredients that may be linked to cancer, and the “Greener Alternatives” page linking to beauty companies making a difference and trying to make their products safe for teens. There is so much great info on this site, that I didn’t even know about. Read more…
